Hello Winter

Hey reader(s), its been a while. College is making me extremely busy, and by busy I mean a lot of wasting time. And by wasting time, I mean computer games. And by computer games, I mean starcraft. Yep thats right, after almost 12 years from its release, starcraft is keeping me and my roomates up until 6 in the morning. its pretty bad, siiike :D

But yea, like most other college students, I have finals coming up, and I need to do well. So I'm writing this post to push me to study hard for those tests.

22 days

Okay guys, so there is 22 days until thanksgiving, which means there is 22 days until I can meet up with my buddies and get crazy haha!
no but seriously, that means there is 22 days to lose some weight and get back into shape :/

Being a college student has really messed up my eating/sleeping/studying schedule. And living in a town called college station doesn't really help either. Here, I would say the majority of the big stores, even supermarkets are open 24/7 or at least until 5 am. And having a car doesn't help either. You know, usually when I come home after a late night study sesh at the library until like 2 am, I would drive back home and pick up a few sausage biscuits for a buck at mickydees. Man, they're so good, but that's what's probably killin me right now. One time, I even convinced the dude at the drive through window to hook me up with a slice of cheese for my biscuit HAHA

but in all seriousness, 22 mo days!

But seriously, I love our library. It is humongous, like it is so big that every time I'm there, I discover a new place to study. Did I mention it's 24/7 and has electrical outlets like... everywhere??
So right now I'm on the 2nd floor, out of 6 floors and I'm studying math, which honestly isn't too bad because I had learned most of the stuff in high school.
I also need to take some pictures of my school. It is so beautiful, even at night!

Yea, I just received my credit card today :D Trying to build up my credit, nahh mean??

A Room for One's Own

I've been sleeping for a twin bed for 18 years. Now I've upgraded to a full size :]

yepp, here are some pictures of my room. its pretty nice, I like it here.

So uhh, I live in this place called a brother's house. Its pretty much a house with 6 other guys and we all go to the same church. It really sweet because they are all really chill people. I'm the youngest and the oldest is like 26, who just got engaged btw :D

This Saturday, we are all going to help prepare lunch because we invited this brother's fiance over. I'm pretty excited because I'm going to prepare this crazy salad! haha yeahhh

And this Friday, Obama is coming to our school to give a speech. And so far, the security precaution has been insane. Like our bus stop is moved to another location, and only certain people are allowed into Rudder Tower, the building which he is going to give his speech. I can understand why because not only is he the president but you have to remember that probably 90% of the people in Texas are conservative republicans and they more than likely supported McCain. So its gonna get crazy fellas. I'll try to take some pictures of the situation this Friday.

"Nut up or shut up"

Tonight my buddy Isaac and I went to watch the movie Zombieland, which only cost me 4 bucks, compared to the $10.50 back at the vine. First of all, I haven't seen a movie as funny as that one in a loooong time. The movie had no dull moments and the characters are freaking hilarious! Although it was a bit gory, the movie was pretty creative and it was overall a great experience. Secondly, watching this movie at the movie theater amongst fellow Aggies definitely added the experience.

But before we get on with that, let me tell you something first. Texas A&M is full of traditions. One of them is that we would "hiss" like a snake when our rival football teams are mentioned or anything else we don't like. For example, when we hear the phrase "Austin, Texas," we hiss because the longhorns are our biggest rivals, hisssssssss. haha

So back to the movie. Before the movie began, there was a trailer playing of a girl and vampires fighting each other. And when it came to the last scene where it showed the release date and the word "Twilight," everyone in the audience began to hiss. It was sooo funny!!

Also, there is this other tradition that whenever you see your class year, such as 2013, you would yell out your wildcat, which is basically a yell such as "AAAAAAA" or "AAAA-WHOOP" Yea, you would have to hear it in person or else it doesn't make sense.
Well, as the the trailer of 2012 came to an end, everyone from the class of 2012 stood up and yelled out their wildcat, "WHOOP." hahahaha

Yea, I don't know if whoever is reading this finds this funny, but for me it was almost as funny as the movie. I could really get used to aggieland :D

Thersty Thersday

So Brian, the guy shown above who has humongous nostrils, recently made a blog because he wanted to be cool like me and write about feelings and stuff so everyone can see it and whatever and like he got inspired by me I guess and like, ha ha ha, like he he he.
Anyways enough with the horsepoo, I would like to feature Brian's blog, Just Breathe
I am excited to see what will become of his blog. But I don't think it will become as cool as mine, jay kay :D

But seriously, now that Brian started blogging, I think I have 1 reader now, Brian. Before I think I had like 3 or 4, but as you can see, I haven't been blogging for a while now, so they probably stopped following me. Butt, I think I'm gonna bring this bad boy back (yea right).

Anyways, I am still trying to find a purpose for this blog. It could either be a blog about my life or it could be a music blog, which was my original plan. And what do you guys think of the blog title, One Night in Space. I think its kinda of catchy, kind of mysterious yet there's some meaning to it.

Oh yea, so ATB, a German DJ famous for his son Ecstacy, came out with an album called Future Memories in may of 2009. I don't know how I missed it, but I just recently discovered it.

Great album. Its a two part album so it really means some serious business. It kind of reminds me of Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise 6: Ibiza album, starts off really mellow and smooth, then it just starts to bump hahaha. So I would recommend you "buy" that album or just listen to some songs on imeem or youtube. It's also great study music :)

Man... I really really miss the socal beach. I miss my family, friends, weather, mini cooper, ohh and my dog Jimbo :] Don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast here at College Station, but I also miss the fun times back at home.

College is a big step up from high school, like a HUGE step. In high school, we had it so easy. Everyday someone would cook for you. Here in college, you either have to cook your self, or you can eat out which becomes verrryy expensive and unhealthy. But whatevers man, how can you turn down a large hot 'n ready pizza for 6 bucks at Little Caesars? You can't.

Oh yea, I have a new best friend, sort of. His name is Coffee. He's so cool, whenever I'm with him, he makes me feel awake and alive. Sometimes we hang out until like 4 in the morning, but usually I see him in the morning. Coffee's cool, you guys should get to know him, hahaha ;)

Big ass update

Okay, so I counted and there are 9 more days of school, NINE MORE DAYS OF HIGH SCHOOL!!! Can you guys believe that? I remember when I was in middle school being a gangster. And I remember freshmen year, making new friends. But now I'm going to college? Time seriously flew by pretty damn fast. Sooner or later, I'm going to start working and before you know it, I'm getting marred - hopefully.

So the reason I resurrected this bad boy is because I want to begin blogging not just for myself, but for my friends as well. Basically, we are all going to different schools in different states, so by updating my blog, my friends can still "keep in touch" with me and see what I'm doing, like going to massive beer pong parties and tailgating before a game - just kidding, but seriously :)

My plans for the summer is pretty much work because I need to purchase a laptop for myself before college starts. School starts late August, so I got some time to rack up some mula-mula. Right now my job choices are pretty much open to anything with a decent pay, but my friend can hook me up with a job at Blizzard as a game-tester. Isn't that the craziest idea ever? getting paid to play video games?? Now I don't know about you guys, but used to love video games. Back in the day, when my mom wasn't home, I would play games all day and consequently fail at school. Now as I become older, I am beginning to lose my interest in games. But seriously, getting paid to play games? That has got to be the chillest job ever.

So yea, here is my update. Schools coming to an end. My relationships with my friends are coming to an end. But I'm gonna do my best to make those relationships last forever ;) no homo

Another Dilemma

Do you often question if your life is already planned for you? Do you ever ask yourself why bother working hard if your life is already set? Recently, I have been asking these questions due to a combination of being a second-semester senior and less school work. As relaxing as it may feel right now, I know, for a fact, that being lazy will get me no where - trust me, I tried it. But then again, coming home from school, sleeping until 7 or 8 o'clock beats the hell out of doing homework and studying. This is pretty much my life right now: sleep a lot, eat a lot, do very little. I hate to admit it, but it feels very nice.
Sometimes I convince myself that someone has already planned out my life. I often pray that he would take care of my future, and I certainly believe that he will. Considering how much I trust him, it is very tempting to set up the cruise control and roll along. But given how I feel about this whole dilemma, I have come to a conclusion. He only rewards those who work hard - I think that's what he said. In the past few days, I was rewarded with some college acceptance letters. But at the same time I'm scared that if I stop working hard, I won't get anymore acceptance letters.
However, this conflicts with my other belief that my life is already planned out. I guess that this depends on my definition of a "successful" life. So I have decided that I will stop being lazy and start putting some effort back into my school work. Therefore, I won't feel as bad and maybe some more good news will arrive.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I was too busy being a second semester senior!!
But in all seriousness, the past couple of weeks have been pretty serious.
Finals were hectic and stressful, but my grades came out...not too bad.
Winter formal was last night, and it was so much fun. They had a swing dancing room and my date and I pretty much owned all the other people with our sexy sweet skills.
We also rode in a horse carriage, and the horse's name was Stellar! I lol'ed.

So I rolled my ankle last Friday, and now its like 80% healed but I have some big bruises on the sides. It looks crazy! Surprisingly, I was able to dance like a superstar last night, just kidding.

I've started a new book in English class, its called White Noise, written by Don DeLillo.
So far, the book is so stylistically different than anything else we have read. It is a postmodern book that discusses the idea the people turn to consumerism instead of religion, when they are near times of death. I can't wait to finish it!

So yeah, this has been my past few weeks.

Obama and Racism

Of all the topics introduced in the poli-lounge, the issue of Obama and race has interested me in many ways. This issue can be viewed by two opposing ways: America is becoming a more diverse country that is trying to forget about the past, America needs a lesson on defining race. Being one of the youngest yet most powerful countries, America is beginning to develop into a strong nation outwardly, as well as inwardly. About 150 years ago, slavery was a real problem in America – the white men viewed the blacks as property instead of humans. Although slavery was abolished in the late 19^th century, the blacks were still restricted by many of the laws passed, aimed to suppress the blacks. After 1950, racism and discrimination began to disappear through the help of many active organizations and powerful people. Now, almost 60 years later, we have a President who is the first half African American, which is quite amazing, considering how much our country has changed in so little time.

What many people do not realize is that there is still a large population of Americans, particularly southern whites, who are still attached to the idea of racism towards the blacks. During the presidential campaign, I thought that McCain was going to win the most popular votes because of the large slightly racist population located in the southern states. Although Obama and Biden may have clearly been the better candidates (come on, seriously? Sarah Palin?), I thought that most of the Americans were going to vote for McCain simply because of the fact that he is white.

Well thankfully, in a sort of country-loving way, Obama won the election. Not only does this disprove my theory about our population (which is a good thing), but it also suggests that many of our younger and slightly more educated population are voting. Obama was often considered as a celebrity – mostly in a positive way. For some reason, the younger population, 25 years old and younger, liked Obama – a lot. T-shirts were made of Obama’s face, he appeared on many videos aimed toward a younger audience, and the younger population generally respected him. There are many reasons to support this phenomenon (sorry for the lack of a better word) such as the previous disapproval toward Bush. But the most important factor might have simply been that Obama is black – well, half black.

The reason I say half black connects to the second way the issue of Obama and race may be viewed. On Thursday, Mr. Mamer gave our government class an interesting way to view race. Although Tiger Woods is one eighth black and half Thai, why is it that America still views him as African American? Although Obama is half black and half white, why is it that America still views him as African American? Why can’t he be seen as white? Because technically, he is considered white as well. I believe that Obama’s race may have partly attributed to his victory due to the media’s increasingly popular portrayal of black people – like rappers, athletes, and celebrities. Don’t get me wrong, it might sound like that I dislike the current black culture (which I don’t), but I am simply pointing out the fact that America still has a small problem regarding race. What is the problem exactly? I do not know because I do not have enough knowledge in some sort of philosophy and sociology to determine that. But I do know that there is a problem.

Although America has become more mature as a country, it is clear that it is only in the early stages of maturity. There are still some issues, but considering the amount of time we had to change, the difference is astounding.

A few good tunes

So lately, I have been listening to a lot of British Pop. Specifically, I'm listening to Travis, Phoenix, Keane, and The Doves (Four amazing bands and musicians).

Each are unique in a way that never bores me. For Travis, what captivates me the most is the insanely high voice the lead singer has. In songs such as Battleship and Closer, the amazingly high and dissonant harmonies paired with the upbeat rhythm really makes there songs enjoyable to listen to.

Keane and The Doves are just amazing bands. I haven't really got much time to listen to the rest of their albums, but so far so good!

And Phoenix, is just insane. Phoenix is a French band, and their most notable song is probably If I Ever Feel Better. I don't know how to describe it, but something about their music makes it seem very "old skool." Right not I can only think of one song, Too Young (Zoot Woman Remix).


Yeah, basically I "purchased" every single album by Travis and Phoenix and I am loving almost every single song. If you want to check out one of the best albums, meaning every song is amazing, check out The Boy With No Name by Travis. Simply genius.

That's right, breaks over. School starts tomorrow, well actually today in a couple of hours. Finals coming up in three weeks.
My birthday is in seven days!! hehehehohoho <-- what the freak??

Family Vacation

As previously mentioned in the previous post, my family, cousins, two friends, and I went to Mammoth to ski/snowboard. It is a yearly "tradition" and we enjoy it very much. The ride there usually takes around 7 to 8 hours, but because we left around 6:00 in the morning, we skipped traffic and got to Mammoth around noon.

We stayed in Mammoth for about 4 days and 3 nights. After Mammoth, my family and I stayed at the Encore in Las Vegas for one night. This hotel, the "sister" hotel of the Wynn, opened on the 22nd of December - so it is a very new hotel. Walking onto the 56th floor where we stayed, I was able to smell the new paint smell. Even more impressive was our room. The design, color, feel, and spaciousness of it was very awesome. This hotel was the best hotel I have stayed in, and I have stayed in quite a lot of hotels (not to sound cocky, ty)

I had fun during this trip and I had some quality time with the family and friends. Hopefully, as I move on to college and in the future, I can continue this family tradition. I hope you all had a great winter break!!
